Tree climbing in New Zealand is at an all-time high when you consider our international exposure. We have four climbers in this years World Championships: Scott Forrest and Nicky Ward-Allen representing New Zealand and James Kilpatrick and Chrissy Spence representing the Asia-Pacific Region.
According to NZ National TCC Coordinator Marlies Laser this is a pretty amazing record. Outside of the US, Germany is the only other country to have so many climbers in one World Championship. Apparently, a few years back Germany had two German Regional winners, two European Regional winners and Beddes Strasser as a reigning World Champion all attending the World Championships.
On top of us having four World Championship qualifiers in one event,Nicky Ward-Allen also holds the women's world footlock record at 14.44 seconds which is no mean feat in itself. The ITCC World Championships are scheduled for July 24-25, 2010 at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois, USA. The qualifying events will be held onSaturday along with the Arbor Fair. A Head-to-Head Footlock Competition and the Women's and Men's Masters' Challenge will be held on the Sunday.
