Workshops gather momentum

Workshops gather momentum

Richard Tregoweth - Friday, June 25, 2010

There are a number of interesting workshops coming up over the next few months that you need to pencil into your diary now.

Coming up soon…
Saturday July 3, Auckland: Rigging with the Port-A-Wrap Workshop presented by Pro Climb and DB Tree. Rossy has picked the right topic for this workshop. Judging by the comments coming in via the store this workshop will fill up fast. Apparently, arborists from as far away as Hastings will be in attendance. There's more information and registration details on the Pro Climb website. Numbers are limited for this workshop so make sure you register early.

Friday 9 July, Nelson: Eucalyptus Identification Workshop presented by Chris Ecroyd from SCION. This one day workshop is a must for anyone involved in tree work. There are so many eucalypts its a wonder Chris can fit identification into a one-day workshop! Workshop convener, Brad Cadwallader tells us this workshop has only a few places left. There is more information and registration details on the Notable Trees of New Zealand website.

And later in the year…
Saturday August 28, Hamilton: Waikato TCC Workshop presented by Johno Smith and Drew Bristow of DB Tree. The Waikato TCC Workshop will cover everything from gear check to a full explanation of the new 2010 rules. Each of the individual TCC events including throwline, speed climb, foot lock, aerial rescue and work climb will be covered in detail and there will be plenty of opportunity for questions and practical demonstration. The day will be conclude with a few beers with fellow climbers.

Sunday October 24, Otago Polytechnic: Splicing and Testing Workshop presented by New Zealand and Australian rope splicers and manufacturers. This is an important workshop for tree climbers considering the debate surrounding hand-splices both in the workplace and in the tree competitions. No time to sit on the sidelines - get involved! More information should be available soon from the NZAA regarding this workshop.

Rossy Ross from Pro Climb presenting the rigging demo at Boakes Road in Auckland earlier in the year. This event was conducted with help from Malcolm Shaw of Norton Tree Services .
