When cambium savers (rope friction savers) first came out most arborists scratched their heads and thought to themselves: that is so simple, why didn't I think of that! When Andy Neverman visited the Treetools tent at the Waikoto/BoP Tree Climbing Championships/Demo Day and suggested we add a parrel ball to each of the rope friction savers we sell, we thought the same: why didn't we think of that?
It requires a larger ball than that used on the rope savers (DB Tree and ART) but the principle is the same - the ball (and climbing line) go through the large ring but not the small one allowing you to retrieve the friction saver from the ground. The alternative to the parrel ball is a good old-fashioned stopper knot but the ball is a much tidier arrangement. Thanks Andy!
