Matt Glen takes out South Island TCC

Richard Tregoweth - Sunday, September 27, 2009

It appears competitive tree climbing is alive and well in Christchurch with 50 climbers competing in the South Island Tree Climbing Championships held on Saturday 26 at South Hagley Park.

Matt Glen (Auckland) was overall winner and like Andy Neverman, the winner of the Waikato/BoP TCC event, Matt climbs on Tachyon rope from Treetools - Matt is also a fan of the ART Spiderjack and ART Positioner.

Drew Bristow (Auckland) came in second, Jewand Ngau-Chun (Auckland) third, Menno Kluiters fourth and Johno Smith (Auckland) fifth.

Unfortunately Treetools were unable to attend the South Island Champs so we cannot provide you with photographs. Check the NZ Arb Association website over the next week for official results.

The Wellington Tree Climbing Competition is scheduled for Saturday October 3 at the Wellington Botanic Gardens.

The Wellington TCC will be the last regional event before the Nationals, to be held in conjunction with the 2009 NZ Arboricultural Conference scheduled for 19-21 November 2009 in Blenheim.
