Learning to work the angles in rigging

Richard Tregoweth - Monday, October 11, 2010

We have talked before about the importance of the rope angles in rigging (and climbing for that matter), particularly the loads generated when pulleys are used as re-directs and the value to be gained from downloading the VTIO 'Working the angles' white paper.

Treemagineer, Mark Bridge has developed a simple 'angles' drawing also worth printing and laminating to keep in the truck (see below).

New Zealand's leading rigging trainer, Rossy Ross from Pro Climb , has this sheet laminated and attached to his rigging kit - it's an excellent reminder of the loads put on the anchor as the rope angles change.
