2nd Annual NZAA Young Arborist of the Year

2nd Annual NZAA Young Arborist of the Year

Richard Tregoweth - Thursday, January 13, 2011

Kevin Squire has asked Treetools to post the information below regarding the 2nd annual NZAA  Arborist of the Year… and we're happy to oblige. This competition is great for the industry and should receive wholehearted support from the tree climbing community.

Marc Higgie represented the arb industry in the 2010 event and he proved to be a great ambassador for the arb sector in the 2010 Young Horticulturalist of the Year.

If you have any questions about the NZAA Arborist of the Year talk to Kevin, his email is listed below - entries close 20 February.

NZAA Young Arborist of the Year NATIONAL COMPETITION 2011
For all young arborists who consider they have the right stuff (no that doesn’t mean the latest Treemotion harness and every gizmo you can think of to hang on it) come to Auckland on March 12th 2011 where, in conjunction with the Auckland Regional Tree Climbing Competition, the New Zealand Arboricultural Association is proud to announce the 2nd annual Young Arborist of the Year (YAOTY) competition.

REQUIREMENTS
Competition is open to arborists under 30 years of age who have been actively engaged within the industry for a minimum of three years. If you consider that you have a good general horticultural knowledge and an ability to think both on your feet and laterally, then you need to enter this competition and show us what you are made of. This is not a climbing competition but more a contest to display your aptitude and adaptability in a variety of interesting and testing activities.

Not only does the winner of this competition get to represent our sector at the Young Horticulturalist of the Year competition in Auckland in November 2011 (with all travel and accommodation paid for), you will also receive a wildcard entry to the National Tree Climbing Competition to be held in Nelson in October (date and venue to be confirmed). Entries for the competition close 20th February 2011 but be in quick, as entries are limited.
