An excellent start to 2011 for kiwi tree climbers

An excellent start to 2011 for kiwi tree climbers

Richard Tregoweth - Friday, December 10, 2010

2011 is shaping up to be a very busy year for tree climbers. International events like the Asia-Pacifc Regional TCC in Singapore, the 2011 International TCC in Sydney and the World Arborcamp in Queensland all happen around the middle of the year.

But closer to home (and certainly more immediate on the calendar) are the NTCA Pakaraka Tree climbers Gathering in Northland on January 15-16 and Matt Glen's Fancy Dress Tree climbing Competition on January 29.

Both these events will raise money for the NTCA administered Agathis Tree Climbers Relief Fund.

NZ No.1 Scott Forrest, Pro Climb , DB Tree and Climb Every Thing will present workshops at the Pakaraka Tree Climbers Gathering with all money donated to the fund. Likewise, the $30.00 entry fee to Matt Glen's Fancy Dress Tree Climbing Competition.

The Agathis Fund was formed by NTCA founders Joe Cooper and Troy Alderton to benefit all New Zealand tree climbers and derives most of its income from the sale of the Agathis Fund lanyard through arb outlets around the country. Administered by the NTCA, the fund is designed to provide immediate financial support to climber families in the event of a serious accident.

Start the New Year with a bang! Get along to both the January events: the Pakaraka Tree Climbers Gathering and the Fancy Dress TCC.
