As the name suggests Rock Exotica Mini Eight is a small Figure 8 descender with ears - check out the size dimensions. The 'ears' allow for multiple ways to control friction on descent.
The Rock Exotica Mini Eight is designed to have a tight fit on a 12 mm carabiner bar. The biner hole has an O-ring that grips the carabiner frame and keeps the Rock Exotica Mini Eight in position on the bar. Due to its small size you will need to closely monitor wear and abrasion. Dirty rope will increase the rate of wear. All Figure 8's get hot on descent but it can get extra hot on the small 8's during long rappels - it's best to use a bigger 8 if you are doing long descents.
Make sure you have a back-up friction device (prussic) where possible. Made from 7075 aluminum which is harder and longer lasting than the more common alloys used on other Figure 8's.
