Now in their third generation, the Distel Alu3 aluminium shaft climbers come with a newly designed, hot forged shank; 10% lighter (50 grams each) than previous models by using a stronger alloy, anti-slip ribs on the bottom of each stirrup, and three-dimensional forging details. In addition, the black satin matt finish results from a scratch-resistant black polymer anodised to a blasted surface to produce the highest possible bending fatigue strength. The latest shin pads are 50% larger and 2 cm thick, with a new grid structure for better pressure distribution, giving the user an increased subjective feeling of comfort. Furthermore, the PTFE-coated gaffs reduce friction and provide easier release from the wood, saving effort and stress to the climber. They are made in Germany, initially designed by Uli Distel over 30 years ago - considered the most comfortable tree climbing gaffs on the market.
