Samson Stablebraid 16 mm is one of the of the most versatile pulley tethers available for rigging. Attach your impact block to the sling's eye and choke around the stem using a cow or timber hitch. Note: Earlier rigging methods used a 3-wrap Timber Hitch but the latest ropes, particularly coated ropes like Stable Braid requires a 5-wrap Timber Hitch. The extra wraps guarantee contact with the tree. Secure the block tightly to the tree to reduce shock load. Remember, loads generated at the anchor point can be as much as 4:1 so make sure you get it right. Match with any of the swinging bollards or arborists impact blocks for secure attachment to the stem. The SWL for the Samson Deadeye 16 is based on a 10:1 safety factor. If you consider a 7:1 SF acceptable for topping slings you could increase the SWL to a whopping to 940 kg.
