The FTC DONUT Rigging Pulley integrates a conventional rigging (impact) block and a friction ring into a single unit. This design allows arborists to hoist or transfer loads via the pulley sheave while generating controlled friction at the central ring for dynamic rigging. The DONUT accommodates two rope systems simultaneously, facilitating advanced rigging configurations such as high-mass lifts or precision lowering. The friction provided minimises stress on lowering devices and enhances descent control, thereby reducing the risk of shock loading. Its circular, symmetrical form factor streamlines installation, mitigates misalignment or overhang, and enables accurate rigging adjustment with multiple slings or between anchor points. Suitable for both aloft and at ground level, the DONUT offers a favourable strength-to-working-load ratio for its category. This device is best utilised by arborists proficient in tree rigging mechanics.

The FTC DONUT pulley is used for tree care (felling, dismantling, etc.). It must be used with equipment.(ropes, slings, etc.) and on places of the tree that are compatible in size and resistance to thepulley. It can be used for redirects during tree dismantling works, for rigging or the lowering ofbranch/trunk sections. Only competent people trained in tree care work (felling, dismantling, etc.) should use this device after reading and understanding the instructions and following the manufacturer’s recommendations. Users are solely responsible for setting up a safety plan for the work zone (danger zone), including the people and property around it.

The NZ Arb BPG (Best Practice Guideline) states that the SWL (should be) 10% of the rope's average breaking strength, spliced strength or tensile strength unless otherwise stated by the manufacturer—this means you apply a safety factor of 10:1.
