Efficiency through Safety Workshop
The 'Efficiency through Safety' workshop is presented by the NZAA as part of the 2010 Asia-Pacific Tree Climbing Competition programme scheduled for Sunday March 21, 2010 at Western Park, Freeman's Bay, Auckland.
Increase your knowledge base and safety awareness by attending the Safety Briefing led by Thane Young, Department of Labour (DoL
) National Arboriculture Inspector, outlining the latest findings in Arboricultural Safety.
Thane's briefing will be followed by a climbing and gear demonstration. Drew Bristow (DB Tree
) and Rossy Ross (Pro Climb
) will demonstrate the advantages and limitations of both established and developing ascending techniques. Drew and Rossy will show how various ropes and climbing hardware behave under stress - particularly toothed mechanical ascenders on kernmantle rope.
