2010 South Island Regional Tree Climbing Competition

2010 South Island Regional Tree Climbing Competition

There are a series of four Regional Tree Climbing Competitions (TCCs) held at venues in Christchurch, Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington throughout 2010 in conjunction with New Zealand Arboricultural Association and STIHL.

See Treetools on Flickr for photographs taken at the 2010 South Island Regional TCC, Saturday 13 March, South Hagley Park, Christchurch.

These competitions are open to persons involved in all aspects of arboriculture.

The top climbers (five male and five female) from each of the Regional Tree Climbing Competitions will be eligible to compete in the NZAA/STIHL National Tree Climbing Championship (NTCC) held in November 2010, Auckland. This is your chance to meet and compete with fellow arborists, learn new techniques and see firsthand differing climbing styles. The overall winner of the NTCC will go on to represent New Zealand at the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) International Tree Climbing Championship (ITCC) held in the Brisbane, Australia in July next year.

Get along to South Hagley Park, corner Riccarton Ave/Deans Ave (7:30 am start) and spend the day competing, socialising and networking with arborists from throughout the region and the country.

A $30.00 entry fee for all contestants is required. This fee is to cover set up costs.

For further information please contact the regional coordinator: Matt Palmer phone 027 220 2724

Copies of the rules are available for download here. It is the contestant’s responsibility to familiarise themselves with the current ITCC rules. Download more information here.
