New arborists will need Work Climb skills

Mark Bridge explaining the Work Climb for the uninitiated - there is a bit of a clash with sponsors but consider the content first.

The 'New Arborist of the Year Competition' is the latest initiative from NZ Arb targeted at young up-and-coming arborists - you'll need 0-3 years industry experience to enter the competition.

Jointly sponsored by WEL Networks, Thoughplanters and Husqvarna the 'New Arborist of the Year Competition' offers almost $1000 worth of prizes including travel (and two nights accommodation) to Queenstown for the 2013 NZ Arb Conference and NZ TCC - there are four regions with one finalist going forward from each region.

As part of the NAOTY testing criteria, regional entrants must complete the Work Climb in their respective Regional TCC.

That means any 'new' Auckland arborists wishing to enter the competition will also need to enter the Auckland Regional TCC this weekend in Whangarei (Mander Park - see Google map here) and score well in the Work Climb.

The TCC Work Climb score along with points attained through a multi-choice theory test go toward the finals - the four regional NAOTY entrants with the highest scores get to go to Queenstown.

Would-be NAOTY entrants (or employers of said arborists) can download the flyer or contact Mat Miller direct on 021 735 575 for more details - Aucklanders - get it done before this weekend
