NTCA Agathis Fund reaches $4000 milestone

Richard Tregoweth - Friday, December 16, 2011

One year since inception, the Northland Tree Climbers Association Agathis Fund has raised just over $4000. The Agathis Fund was established by NTCA founders Joe Cooper and Troy Alderton in November 2010 and is administered by the association.

Donations from workshops, tree climbing comps and the sale of tee shirts has helped the fund immensely.

Pro Climb (Rossy Ross) and DB Tree Splicing (Drew Bristow) donated the enrollment fees from the 2011 NTCA Pakaraka Tree Climbers Gathering Rigging Workshop and Matt Glen donated the entry fees to the 2011 Fancy Dress TCC from earlier in the year.

However, by far the biggest contributor has been the sale of the purple Agathis Lanyards. All of the major arb retailers throughout the country have got in behind the NTCA and sold these unique lanyards through their retail outlets. $15.00 from each lanyard sold goes directly to the tree climber relief fund.

Note: The NTCA is Northland-based but the bereaved family of any New Zealand tree climber would have access to the Agathis Fund.
