Andy Neverman takes out Waikato/BoP Regional TCC

Richard Tregoweth - Sunday, September 20, 2009

Congratulations to Andy Neverman (pictured below in the Work Climb) on winning the Waikato/BoP Regional Tree Climbing Champs held at Ferry Bank Park in Hamilton on Saturday 19 September. (Andy climbs on Tachyon rope from Treetools). The event attracted visitors from as far away as Christchurch and Whanganui and also a group from Auckland including Johno Smith, Matt Glen, Matt Dallas and Jawand Ngau-Chun. After the main event the 'Masters' including Johno, Matt G, Matt D and Andy showed how it was done.

Johno used the Thompson Unicender and SRT, and Matt G the ART Spiderjack and Positioner. Matt Dallas provided a running commentary from the tree and was heard to say that he didn't need the 'toys' like the previous two, much to the amusement of the crowd. A full report of placings will be available on the NZ Arb Association website over the next few days.

Treetools had a steady stream of climbers visiting our display - the event provided anexcellent opportunity to catch up with customers. There was plenty of discussion about the latest in climbing techniques and equipment. Supplies of TheTree Climbers Sourcebook, a full colour tree climbing equipment catalogue, were depleted by mid-afternoon. You can download a PDF copy or use the 'Contact'form if you want to receive a printed version.
